Shubun-Kanro- Opening the Kiku flower -

In Japanese calendar, there is “the autumn equinox” is the 15 days counting from September 23,
which is the middle of autumn.
We can divide it into three terms: “Thunder lowers its voice,” “Bugs starts to hibernate,”
and “Water starts to dry up.”
As the words said, the climate precisely notice that “heavy whether is gone,”
“autumn’s bugs calm down,” and “it rarely rains.”
As you can see from the Japanese calendar, the autumn in Japan is the nice climate, which makes you enjoy wherever you go.
In this season, the mountain is full of life with the colorful leaves.
There is a lot of blessing of nature and many delicious foods appears on the market.
Also, there is the festival of kiku(chrysanthemum) called “Longevity celebration.”
It is said that kiku is the medicinal potion of longevity, and, in the Heian period(792~1185),
it was part of the culture because the nobles prefered it.

Kashiwaya’s autumn dishes are made from the seasonal foods, such as tilefish,
matsutake mushroom, and chestnuts.
By all five senses, you will definitely enjoy the “kiku”,
which Japanese loves since a very long time ago.
