Hatsuzuki 初月From Shosho to Hakuro

In September, you can enjoy the beautiful “moon(月/getsu)” which is one of the “Setsu-getsu-ka(雪月花).” We call the full moon in this month, “Harvest moon(中秋の名月).” On the day, we do “Otsukimi(お月見/viewing the moon) to appreciate the harvest (ex. potatoes, chestnuts, and beans). The word, “Hatsuzuki(初月)” describes the new moon before the “Harvest moon.” The word reminds us how much Japanese people cherish the moon and look forward to viewing it.

In Kashiwaya, our cuisine’s theme is about “Harvest moon” in this month. We will prepare the autumn cuisine by using gazami crab, tilefish, pike conger, ayu, and so on.
The autumn moon is so beautiful that you forget about the time. Please enjoy and find the harvest moon in our cuisine.
