さらさら、さらさら、遠くで雨音が聞こえている。

朝、眠りから覚めたことに気づくより先に、雨音に気を取られていたことに驚かされた。目覚めが曖昧だったのは、いつもより朝の光が弱かったせいかも知れない。

梅雨空のせいで窓の外の光もいつもより柔らかで、雨と雲の境目もはっきりとはわからない。空はどこまでも白く距離感のない深さを持っていた。

昼間になってもどことなく薄暗いが、景色は意外に鮮明に見える。木々の緑は艶やかに映る。この色鮮やかな美しさは、梅雨曇り特有の風情である。しかしこの美しい風情も梅雨が明けるまでのもの。

分厚い梅雨雲の向こう側では、すでに太陽がジリジリと夏の日差しの準備をしていることでしょう。梅雨が明ければ、ひと息に夏の盛りを迎えます。

Pitter-patter, pitter-patter — I can hear the sound of rain in the distance.

Before I even realized I had woken from sleep, I was already captivated by the sound of the rain.  Perhaps the gentle gloom of morning blurred the moment I awoke.

Rain-laden clouds dimmed the sunlight, dissolving the border between sky and rain.  The sky was a boundless white, holding a depth that knew no distance.

Even in the daytime, the world remained somewhat dim, and yet the scenery appeared surprisingly vivid.  The green leaves glowed with a deep, vibrant shine — a quiet beauty found only in the soft gloom of the rainy season.

However, this beautiful charm will last only until the rains are over.  Beyond the thick rain clouds, the sun is surely already preparing to scorch the land with the fierce heat of summer.  Once the rainy season ends, the height of summer will arrive all at once.
